The “Together We Will” award recognized Axalta’s Ajax, Ontario facility as one of the top fundraisers for the recent Heatwave Durham 2016 10th Annual Corporate Challenge for SickKids softball tournament in Oshawa, Ontario. For the second consecutive year, Axalta employees and family members donated to the SickKids Foundation, which is the largest supporter of child health research, learning, and care in Canada and benefits SickKids. The hospital is Canada’s first, and one of the world’s most respected, pediatric hospitals.
“On behalf of The Hospital for Sick Children, I would like to thank the teams from Axalta Coating Systems for joining us at the Corporate Challenge for SickKids,” said Rosanne O’Neill, Event Director, Heatwave for SickKids. “This year, alone, the Heatwave regional events raised over $400,000 for childhood cancer research at the new Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning at SickKids. This represents one enormous homerun towards ending childhood cancer. Your support will continue to position SickKids as a world leader in cancer research and will benefit children in Toronto, Canada and beyond now, and for years to come.”
“I am extremely proud of our Ajax employees for their efforts both on and off the field,” said Paul Chaney, Axalta Plant Manager-Ajax. “The Axalta teams showed dedication, commitment, and teamwork throughout the tournament. But, most important of all, they raised money for a great cause that impacts the lives of countless children and adolescents in our community.”
